The Kamloops Film Society

I joined the Kamloops Film Society during a year of big changes and a fast-approaching film festival. A lot of things were shifting at once, and the team had to move quickly. It made for a hectic season—but also a really fun one.

I worked closely with the festival coordinator to create the full look and feel of the festival that year. I designed the posters, ad layouts, program booklet, business cards, and social graphics using InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. For motion and video, I created animated logo stings and short promos in After Effects, and edited trailers and social clips in Premiere Pro. I also handled photo editing from events as the festival rolled along.

Alongside the main festival materials, I illustrated a custom version of the KFS mascot, Gaffer, and designed a set of festival stickers. It was a really fun way to add some personality to the event and give people something hands-on to take home.

Even with tight timelines, everything came together in time for the festival. After it wrapped, I continued working with KFS on a regular basis—designing monthly posters for upcoming films, creating social media content, and putting together the weekly newsletter for new screenings and events at the Paramount Theatre.

I’ve always loved film and animation, so working with an organization built around storytelling felt like the perfect fit. It was one of those roles where design, motion, and community all came together—and I loved every minute of it.
